I have a daughter who is 14 years old and is an accomplished piano player.  When I asked her who was her favorite band...she said Styx.  She is constantly playing your music on the piano.  Just want to say thank you for the positive influence and if you have a chance to send her picture, I'll be glad to pay for it.  Again, thank you.

Sincerely, David

Dear David,
Your daughter is not only talented but a genius with great taste in music!

Suzanne

Does Tom Dziallo still tour with Dennis?

Don

Dear Don,

Suzanne

Bonjour Suzanne & Dennis,
What a surprise to meet you outside the lobby of the hotel at Trois-Rivières (Québec). I will have that surprise meeting memory in my heart for the rest of my life. Remember, Dennis, I said to you : You have been my first spiritual father. when I was 18-19 years old with "Come sail away" song, "I'm OK", etc, you push me up!! And 12 years later, I became a priest.
Thanks to invite me to see "Hunchback of Notre-Dame in Chicago. If it's possible, I would like to see this "magnifique" presentation of your own creation. Specially, in Esmeralda song, the word and your voice, Bravo!! Bravo!!
So thanks for all this great moments threw the years. Many people have a story with you that you can't imagine...Continue your "Vocation", we need you ! Have a great time in Germany !

Gaétan

Suzanne

Hi,
We are from Quebec City and I just can't thank you enough for the ''outstanding'' show that you've given us last night at Le Festival d'Été / Québec 400.My wife and I had a real pleasure listening to everyone on stage. You are a ''bunch'' of professionals and there is no doubt about it.
Dennis ( if I may )......What can I say.....''You are the man''. After all these years....You have the living fire of a volcano deep down your soul.
Thanks a million....Quebec has received the greatest gift a city can get.....''All of you, playing tremendous vintage songs and some newest hits.
Merci & au plaisir de se revoir un jour mes amis (es).

Lucie & André

Dear Andre,
Merci a billion times over. We all had a great time and the crowd was terrific!

Suzanne

I'm a new fan since I heard Dennis interviewed on the Roe Conn Radio show a few months ago. I ordered the Hunchback CD and thoroughly enjoyed the production which definitely should be on Broadway and then Chicago.
The Hunchback story is similar to the Phantom of the Opera which is my all time favorite musical but the Hunchback now ranks in my top five along with Les Miserables and Jekyll and Hyde.
I then heard him perform at the Arlington Heights Frontier Days over the 4th of July weekend. Dennis briefly mentioned Hunchback was playing at the Baliwick theatre but I wonder if he couldn't do more to promote Hunchback.
He had plenty of fans there and I'm sure he could have asked some of them to distribute flyers or set up a booth/table to sell Hunchback as well as other CDs. First

Joanne

Dear Joanne,
Thank you.  We had a great run at the Bailiwick with an extension.  Dennis was very please to see all of his fans at the show.
We won't let it end!

Suzanne

I would like to hear Dennis include the song the Hunchback sings to Esmerelda (#14)in his concert and sing the song on stage to his wife.

Joanne

Dear Joanne,
Thanks for the kind thought.

Suzanne

Tom

Dear Tom,
Thank you. Hope to see you again soon!

Suzanne

Hello Dennis:
Where do I begin? I've known your music since the early 1980's and was captivated.  Whether you know it or not, you music has had an influence on the Symphonic Metal/Rock genre of music.  I say this because I have an open mind and listen greatly to varied categories of music.  Although I must say that the music of current America, "rap" "hip hop",I do not consider music at all, let alone the "one-hit-wonders" that are so prevalent on the radio today.  I sample music from all over the world and find that that Germany, Finland, Sweden, and Italy, are producing the finest hybrid symphonic metal and or ballad music of my time...and why?
Because they had pivotal inspirationalists such as yourself!  I love the way your music incorporates orchestration, rock & pop all in one---and your voice,so unique-one-of-a-kind, gave rise to the international music I spoke of earlier. Please take a moment to listen to groups such as "kamelot, Nightwish, Rhapsody", to name a few.  I hear your influence within these performers.  Segway---I recently saw you perform live for the first time at our Arlington Heights Frontier Days on 07-05-08.
This was the first time I was able to do so.  YOU WERE FANASTIC!. I took a couple of pics...for the memories, but would love to see you again in person in Illinois, like the Allstate Arena(I have that Return to Paradise Alley DVD) concert in 1997.  I also have your latest solo dvd  Honestly, your music gives me so many good memories over my life, I am truly a fan of yours! I wish I could have met ya/got an autograph-and-a-picture, or sent you one of the pictures I took of you at the frontier days, but I see no way to do so. I really wanted to have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to take a quick photo with you and an autograph, but seeing you working so hard on stage, thought I wouldn't have had a chance.
I wish you all the best,as you have been such a great influence for me.  Keep up the great work!!!  If ya have an e-mail address that you would like me to send some of the ! pictures to for your review, something from a dedicated fan, from one Chicagoan to another, let me know...I'd be more than  happy to!

Tom

Dear Tom,
Thank you,

Suzanne

Hi,
I'm looking for the first version of "one hundred years from now". When I first heard it on the radio (radio-energie in Montreal), I loved that song so much. The matching of 2 different voices (Dennis Deyoung and Eric Lapointe) was perfect.
And when you made the promotion of that new song, I think that we could hear the refrain in both languages 3 times. After that, we only could listen to a different version (for French auditors purpose), which contains the first refrain in both languages and the 2 others in French only but I don't like that version. It sounds like something is missing.
That song is not the same without Dennis's voice in the second part of the refrain. So where can I find that version ?
I'm desperate.

Thank you so much in advance.
Louise
Montréal

Dear Lousie,
Thanks for your e-mail. There is only one version with Eric and both Eric and Dennis sing in French and English.

Suzanne

Dear Angela,
Thanks for the e-mail and support of Dennis music throughout the years.

Suzanne

Dear Suzanne,
Hi. I wanted to say congrats to Dennis for such a wonderful musical career. He has created such a wide variety of beautiful pieces of music. Just one question for him: where does he get his inspiration for songs like "Suite Madame Blue" and his original song "Lady"
Thanks a lot,

Amber

Dear Amber,
Thanks for your e-mail.
'Suite Madame Blue,' was a song written for the bicentennial.
Lady was written about and for  his wife Suzanne  (me.)

Suzanne

My husband and I saw you last night at Ridgefest. Fantastic show! My husband saw you play at Mendel HS and Calumet Park Rec Center back in the day. Love you, love your songs and your voice! So refreshing to see how much you love your wife - my husband and I are High School sweethearts, too - going on 31 years next month!
So excited to find out your playing Last Fling - we're Napervillians now, but South Sider's at heart. One request. . .could you please play "Show me the Way" and tell the story about why you wrote it, like you did at Taste of Chicago? Lot's of daughter's friends serving/served in Iraq and they're just in their 20's - it would be a special way to mention them/thank them for serving our Country through that song.
Pleeeeesssseeee keep coming to the area! Love you and your music,

Gail and Paul

Dear Gail,
Thanks for your kind words and support of Dennis music throughout the years.
Last month Dennis caught a virus that was going around our "Hunchback" cast and we had to cancel a number of shows. He took ''Show Me The Way" out of the set to give his voice a rest. Last night in Minneapolis he added it back on our set list. If all is well he's sure to play it at the Naperville show.

Suzanne

Hi Suzanne,
My boyfriend and I saw Dennis at Ridgefest here in the south 'burbs July 25th, great show and we had a great time and my boyfriend is now a big fan. Wanted to make a comment too about Tommy Dziallo, fantastic guitarist and we were duly impressed with his guitar work especially the solo at the end of "Desert Moon". Looking forward to hopefully seeing Dennis and the band again here in the southland.

Robin

Dear Robin,

Hello:
Thank you so much for the opportunity to send this request.  I will be mailing in the next few days, some pictures per your suggestion below in hopes that Mr. DeYoung will be able to sign.  I also have for him a small photobook with pictures from the Arlington Heights
Frontier Days for his memories.  I hope he enjoys seeing the unique perspective his fans capture him in during his performances.  Everyone takes with them from one of Dennis's concerts, a unique and individual memory and experience, and I just wanted him to see which pictures I decided to take of for my experience...he's a tried and true Chicago Icon and wouldn't have it any other way.

What happened to SHOW ME THE WAY in your concert set list? Why did Dennis take it out? PLEASE PLEASE put it back in!! I miss hearing it!!

Dan

Dear Dan,
Last show we played it was back in the set list.
Dennis caught a virus that was going around our 'Hunchback' cast.  Everyone had laryngitis, including Dennis. He kept the song off our set list until his voice recovered.  He's since recovered

Suzanne

Hi Suzanne and Dennis;
Just dropping a note to say I was at the concert in Watertown, Wi on August 1 of 2008.  I thought it was great!  Was always a Styx fan, but now I am even more so.  Seemed like the band was a very tight unit that night.  I hope you enjoyed your brief stay in our little town.  You had a great audience that night, and gave them what they came for.  Again, thanx for the great show.  Here's hoping for another great 61 years from you both!

Mike

Dear Michael,
Thank you.  We had a great time!

Suzanne

I just purchased a copy of 10 on Broadway. I LOVE it. My husband would like a copy of the music for On the Street Where You Live. Is there anywhere I can purchase this?
Mr. DeYoung did such a WONDERFUL job on this album. I have been of STYX forever and I also enjoy listening to him on his own.
Keep up the good work.

Marguerite

Dear Marguerite,
Thank you for your kind words and support of Dennis music. I would check on the Internet...on some sites you can download the music you are looking for.

Suzanne

Hi Dennis and Suzanne !
I was at the Quebec's show last month and I had tears in my eyes when I saw Dennis came on the stage and starts The grand illusion. It was one of the best moments in my life. When Dennis said ''je vous souhaite un bon anniversaire québec en français, en amérique'', I was so impressed. And when he said ''svp ma femme Suzanne'', I was petrified. WOW! But one of the most beautiful moment of the show, was when Dennis said ''vous êtes le meilleur publique au monde''.
If it's real, Dennis should move in Quebec and make more show... we like to see him in Quebec!!!
I'm a real fan of Dennis Deyoung. I think he has the most wonderful voice in the world... Seriously, he has a powerful voice with a beautiful and natural vibrato. I think Styx is nothing without Dennis Deyoung.
Next year, we will perform a tribute to Styx at school and I was wondering if Dennis can send us a mask like he has on stage for Mr. Roboto. I know it's a big request, but we will be so grateful.

Thanks a lot.
#1 fan
Étienne

PS you are beautiful together
wow... 38 years !
hope to see you soon at Quebec

Étienne

Dear Etienne,
Thank you for your kind words.  It was a great concert...40,000plus fans.  As they say in the US...'the crowd went wild.' and so did the band.
I'm sorry to tell you that we only have 1 mask and the gentleman who originally designed the mask Stan Winston passed away last month.

Suzanne

I already have the Hunchback CD, which I love. After seeing the musical, I was wondering if there were any plans to release an original Bailiwick cast recording of the musical.

Sandra

Dear Sandra,
Thanks for the kind words. The Actors Union will not allow a cast recording.

Suzanne

Hi Suzanne and Dennis!
First, I want to thank you for responding to my question regarding Dennis and you doing a show in Oshawa, Ont.
I have dropped a few hints to the folks who are in charge of booking venues, and I'm hoping they will consider it. I have been searching for months for the Desert Moon CD at stores, yard sales, flea markets, but with no luck. I did, however find it on cassette! So was wondering can I order a copy thru your website? Can't find a video for "Boys Will Be Boys", did he ever make one?
I bet that would be hilarious to see. Thanks for the many memories Styx and Dennis have given us over the years, and here's to another 30+ years!
God Bless.
Lynn

Lynn,
Thanks for your e-mail. We are not licensed to sell the Desert Moon CD, record or cassette. We never filmed a 'Boys Will Be Boys Video.'

Suzanne

Where can i get the desert moon CD?

Phyllis

Dear Phyllis,
Please check Amazon.com or e-bay.

Suzanne

I just wish to thank Dennis for writing a "Happy 50th" birthday note on something I mailed in.
This just reinforces what my brothers and I have always thought about him - what a great guy !!

Bryan

Dear Bryan,
Your welcome. Hope it arrived on time for the big day?

Suzanne

Suzanne,
Is that your photo seen at the beginning of the music video for "Don't Let It End"?

David

Dear David,
Yes. I believe it's my High School graduation photo...too many years ago.
